Bob Friend played baseball from 1951 to 1966. He was born in Indiana, Lafayette to be precise on 24th November, 1930. At the age of 20, Friend played his first major league match.

He was absorbed as a pitcher in Pittsburgh Pirates' team, and played the first game for the team on 28th April, 1951. Friend remained with this team till 1965. Over the years, he was nicknamed as Bob the warrior.
